Does this upper cervical chiropractic anatomy research affect your practice?

Does upper cervical chiropractic anatomy research affect your practice?

It does if you provide any care in the upper cervical spine.

Too often the misinformed proclaim there is no correlation between chiropractic care and headaches.
They cite a lack of double-blinded research studies (best suited for drug research) as their “proof”. Or cite poorly performed research of “manipulations” performed by non-chiropractic practitioners as proof of no efficacy.

The better we understand the upper cervical chiropractic anatomy the better we understand the correlation of misalignments with related problems such as headaches. Is there interference to nerve tissue causing subluxation? That is for you to determine. But, anatomist have overlooked the link between the dura mater and the muscles in the sub-occipital triangle for years. It wasn’t until a chiropractic anatomy instructor from Logan college recently discovered this anatomical link.

Listen in on this audio interview with Dr. Frank Scali as we discuss his research in this profound area.

This finding may not change the way you practice, but it may help you better understand and explain the importance of chiropractic care.

The CCE is up for their own accreditation in December of 2011.
For practicing DC’s it isn’t difficult to see the disconnect between the reality of practicing and the educational standards the CCE tries to uphold and steer into a more drug influenced, allopathic health care model.

Marketing Your Passion for Chiropractic With Podcasting

In the video series below Dwayne Hoskins, DC shares some of his passion for chiropractic and how he inspires others with his podcasting radio show on The Rock Star Chiropractic Project.

Dr. Hoskins started his exposure to Chiropractic in High School. He was on the baseball team and over-swung at a high-fast one (ok, it wasn’t that fast, but it was high school). His cousin’s father-in-law is a Chiropractor, and they deal with the spine, right, so his mom and dad packed him into the station wagon and away they went. Dr. McCann (Hoopeston, IL) treated him and he repaired quickly. Read more here…

Written by josephdoughty on . Posted in Entrepreneurs, Internet Marketing, Marketing

Here on Content4Chiros we are always on the lookout for entrepreneurs who can offer a different take on chiropractic marketing strategies. Check out Scott Stratton’s interview .

Today I wanted to share another entrepreneur’s story, Derek Severs.

Derek stumbled into a hobby 10 years ago and he later sold it as a business for 22 million dollars. That hobby called “CD Baby” was intended to help Derek’s musician friends and himself have a platform to sell their music. Through his own efforts of learning computer programming, his hobby blossomed into a multi-million dollar business. That isn’t the cool part, the cool thing is Derek used the money from the sale of the business to set up a trust that pays dividends into music education when he dies.

CrossFit and Chiropractic Series: Brian Strump, DC reveals how to start a practice and a CrossFit box

Chiropractic, CrossFit and marketing your practice

Let me start off by saying CrossFit is not chiropractic. Keeping the two separate and distinct in your mind may serve you well. However, people in your community make no such distinction. As a matter of fact you are lumped in with all the other doctors, therapists and any body else who works with the body. People have only one thing on their mind, “Can you help me?”. “How long will it take?” and “How much will it cost?”. They seek solutions to their problems. More and more are looking for lifestyle help. CrossFit meets this need and picks up where chiropractic leaves off.

It is my humble opinion chiropractic and CrossFit have much to offer each other. You may have heard “this-or-that” about CrossFit. I would implore you to check out a CrossFit gym in your area with the same open mind you went into with chiropractic. CrossFit is a lifestyle, like chiropractic with benefits way beyond the expected. CrossFit is a brand name and we have no official affiliation with the CrossFit headquarters, just plenty of respect. At the heart of CrossFit is the functional fitness model.

Without further delay, please allow me to introduce Brian Strump, DC

He is the founder and owner of both CrossFit Steele Creek and Premier Health & Rehab Solutions. His passion for health and fitness led him to Chiropractic School and later to become certified in CrossFit. Dr. Strump practices full-time in the adjoining Premier Health & Rehab Solutions and often will have his patients in the CrossFit facility doing their rehab. Dr. Strump also Coaches CrossFit throughout the week and has a special interest in the bio-mechanics of proper lifting techniques. He is a Licensed Doctor of Chiropractic, Level I CrossFit Certified Trainer, and CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified. Post Graduate studies in: Exercise Strength and Conditioning, Rehabilitation of the Spine, Clinical Posture Assessment, and Therapy and Exercises.

Attempt to Open Drugs in Chiropractic | Bill Text: IL Senate Bill 1843 – 97th General Assembly

Bill Text: IL Senate Bill 1843 – 97th General Assembly

A bill, proposed in Illinois state legislature, attempts to remove the “chiropractors may not prescribe drugs or do surgery” provision from their state law.

This would be a logical step in changing the legislature in such a way to open the door for future introduction of drug prescription rights for chiropractors practicing in Illinois.

Here is the proposed bill currently being debated as of Friday, May 20, 2011.
